Two weeks ago, I started taking a Spanish class at the OWATC--- the applied tech college in Ogden where Heather is taking cosmetology. It's an accelerated beginner class, and I am loving it!! Tonight, we passed off our first conversation skills and a self-presentation to the class, en espanol. My self-presentation went especially well. Now we start the second section of our studies. I am having so much fun in this class. There are only ten students, and we are all adults who wanted to take the class, so everyone is motivated and happy to be there, and we work with each other all the time, practicing and helping each other.
I have wanted to study Spanish for years, and have been self-teaching for quite some time---slowly. I've used the great website www.studyspanish.com and a first year Spanish textbook I got at D.I. and a book called How to Learn Any Language. As a result, I was at an advantage starting this class with at least a little understanding of the structure of the language, and with a fair vocabulary compared to the other students in the class. Anyway, what I meant to say is that if there is anything you have always wanted to do or learn or try, you should find a way to do it. It has been so good for me to get out and actively pursue a goal that I've had in mind for many years!! I wish I had made a way to do it sooner. So do yourself a favor and take that class, read that book, tackle that task, whatever it is you've been considering for a while now. You'll be so glad you did!!!

I am so glad to hear that you are having a great time achieving your goal. It is very motivating. Spanish has never interested me, but I have always wanted to learn German. How much do the classes cost at that college?
Muy bein! Tu es mi hermana especial! Keep us posted on your progress, it sounds fun!
I always wanted to learn Spanish, too. When I worked at BYU, I used my free credits to audit a Spanish class, but after the first couple of class periods I decided I couldn't handle working all day and taking class in the evening. I was pregnant and mostly I just wanted to eat and sleep, lol. So good for you, jumping in and just doing it! I'll have to continue getting my Spanish training from Dora the Explorer.
