Poor Levi shut a door too fast while at work tonight and lost the tip of his finger. Usually it just heals over but Levi's wound is too close to the bone so we'll have to make an appointment with a hand surgeon to have the bone ground down to leave enough boneless fatty tissue for the fingertip to heal properly. Levi's got Lortab in his system for the pain, but then there's the pain of missing out on some of his favorite activities....computer gaming, piano playing and writing. He can't work this week, either, so he'll be watching a lot of movies and reading a lot. I got to the E.R. just a few minutes before the nurse came in and unwrapped the finger to clean it and bandage it. Man, it looked awful! I'll let you know how it goes with the hand surgeon.

So, what exactly is the "tip" of the finger? Does he still have the smallest finger bone on the end?

Dave, the tip is all the fatty tissue that could come off and still leave the bone intact.
